Terms of use

These terms govern your use of digestvid.com, the digestVid browser extension and related services (together, "digestVid"). digestVid is operated by SmartApz LLC, a Michigan limited liability company ("SmartApz", "we", "us"). By using digestVid you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use digestVid.

1. The service

digestVid creates AI-generated summaries and cleaned-up transcripts of online videos, currently YouTube videos and Vimeo videos with captions or subtitles, and lets users publish and read those results on digestvid.com. digestVid is in beta: features may change, and the service may be interrupted or discontinued. We do not promise that it will always be available or error-free.

2. Accounts

You can use the extension without an account. Some features (publishing, saved summaries, paid plans) need a digestVid account. You must give a valid email address, keep your password safe, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and if you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use digestVid only with a parent's or guardian's permission.

3. AI output

Summaries, transcripts, facts, categories and tags are produced automatically by AI models and by automatic captions. They can be incomplete or wrong, can misattribute statements, and are not reviewed by us before they are shown. Do not rely on them for medical, legal, financial or other important decisions without checking the original video and its sources. digestVid is not responsible for the content of the videos themselves.

4. Your AI provider and API keys

When you use your own API key, your requests go from the extension directly to the AI provider you choose, under that provider's terms and pricing. You are responsible for your key, for complying with the provider's terms, and for any charges the provider makes.

5. Publishing and your content

On the Free plan, results you make while signed in are published to digestvid.com. Pro and Premium accounts can turn publishing off. When a result is published, you give SmartApz a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, adapt (for example, format, categorize or translate) and distribute it as part of digestVid, for as long as it stays published. You confirm that you are entitled to share the result, and that the video is public. Do not publish summaries of private, confidential, unlisted or access-restricted videos.

We may remove any published result, and suspend or close accounts, that break these terms or that we reasonably believe harm digestVid, its users or third parties.

digestVid links every published result to the original video and keeps transcript pages out of search engines. If you are a creator or rights holder and believe a page on digestVid infringes your rights, use Report on the page or email info@digestVid.com with the page address, the video, and the reason. We review requests promptly and remove content where appropriate.

Pro and Premium are subscriptions billed monthly or yearly in US dollars through Stripe, at the prices shown on the pricing page when you subscribe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep your plan until then. Fair-use limits described on the pricing page and in the FAQ apply. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are not refundable; if something went wrong, contact us and we will look at it fairly. We may change prices for future billing periods and will tell you before a change affects you.

9. Ads and affiliate links

Public pages may show ads to signed-out and Free visitors, and may contain affiliate links, including Amazon Associates links. digestVid may earn a commission from qualifying purchases. Third-party sites and products are not ours, and your dealings with them are between you and them. See the privacy policy for how ads and cookies work.

10. Our property

The digestVid name, logo, website, extension and guides belong to SmartApz or its licensors. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use digestVid as offered; they do not transfer any ownership.

11. Disclaimer

digestVid is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, SmartApz will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of digestVid. Our total liability for any claim relating to digestVid is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify SmartApz against claims by third parties arising from content you publish or from your breach of these terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and you and SmartApz consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away any protection you have under the mandatory laws of the place where you live.

15. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will give notice on the site or by email. Continuing to use digestVid after a change means you accept the updated terms.
